Taste the new Alaskan IPA

You asked for it, and we listened. We're excited to launch our newest beer, Alaskan IPA, after those who tasted it as a limited-edition Rough Draft clamored for it to be bottled. Alaskan IPA will be released in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming by April.

Betsy Lyons called Alaskan IPA "one of the best domestic IPAs I've had the pleasure of trying!" Alaskan IPA's citrus aroma, medium body and clean hop finish seem to have that effect on people.

The new brew takes its cues from the surfing culture in Yakutat, Alaska. The icy waves of Yakutat that break in the shadows of Mount Saint Elias, which towers 18,000 feet above, inspired a beer made with glacier-fed water, a special blend of malts and lots and lots of hops.

Surfer and Alaskan Brewer Tyler Lindquist says it best: "Yakutat is an adventure in surfing, and Alaskan IPA is an adventure in taste."

Big Nugget Barley Wine wins top honor

Alaskan Big Nugget Barley Wine (vintage 2004) took first place at the Toronado Barley Wine Festival, held in San Francisco Feb. 17-24, 2007. There were 54 barley wines entered at the event, one of the biggest of its kind. The first place distinction is evidence that Big Nugget ages beautifully like Alaskan Smoked Porter.
