The Alaskan Brewing Company won three medals at the North American Brewers Association Awards this weekend in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The awards come following three days of blind judging by panels made up of brewers, beer writers and certified judges.

Alaskan Brewing's flagship, Alaskan Amber, took a gold in the Brown Ale Category. The Juneau brewery's Alaskan Frontier was awarded a silver medal in the American Amber Ale category while Alaskan Stout took a bronze in the Oatmeal Stout category.

Judges were served beers in glasses marked with a code number known only to the organizers. When the results were decoded and tabulated, the medals were awarded. The North American Brewers Association was pleased with the conduct of the competition and has approved Idaho Falls as its site for the year 2000. Next June 1st through 3rd the beer awards will return, open to all breweries within North America and the results will be announced June 4th at the Mountain Brewers Beer Fest.
