Alaskan Brewing Introduces New Look for Alaskan Amber Print E-mail

JUNEAU - The Alaskan Brewing Company announces a package upgrade for the flagship Alaskan Amber to begin appearing on store shelves throughout the Pacific Northwest in late February. "We kept the familiar troller that so many Alaskan fans identify with but added detail and vivid color to reflect the imagery and beauty that is Alaska," says Marketing Manager, Cindy Burchfield. "We also took the opportunity to increase the size of the name. The name has been around for 16 plus years and people still ask us if we are really from Alaska. The answer is a resounding 'Yes!'"

In conjunction with the 6-pack and label upgrade, Alaskan Amber 12-packs and case boxes will also be modified to include the new details. "We really wanted to bring the troller to life to better reflect the colorful vessels that navigate the Inside Passage," says Alaskan co-founder, Marcy Larson. "We talked and searched throughout Juneau for 'the' fishing boat and after 14 months, I woke up and there it was...anchored outside my house."

Alaskan Amber was the Juneau brewery's first year-round product when the brewery opened in 1986 and is based on a gold-rush era recipe from one of many breweries serving miners in Alaska. Its Great American Beer Festival awards include Gold medals in the "Alt" beer category in 1987, 1988 and 1990 as well as being voted "Best Beer in the Nation" in the 1988 Great American Beer Festival Consumer Poll.

Alaskan Amber's flavor profile is richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to make this beautiful amber colored "alt" style beer notably well balanced. Alaskan Brewing Company distributes award-winning beers and ales throughout Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada and Northern California. Founded in 1986, Alaskan Brewing Company is the oldest operating brewery in the State of Alaska. The Juneau-based brewery also brews Alaskan Pale, ESB and Stout year round.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them to mind their own pints and quarts and settle down. It's where we get the phrase mind your P's and Q's.
