After completing a Masters degree in Food Science, Dave Wilson traveled to Kodiak in 1994 to pursue both a PhD, and his other passion, hiking and camping in the world’s most beautiful places. While he didn’t end up completing the former (though he did get very, very close), he’s been very successful at the latter – not to mention successful in the craft beer world.

As a child growing up in Oklahoma, Alaskan Brewer Greg Morgan always fantasized about living in Alaska. So he first set out north and then worked his way west, with stops in Colorado and Montana, and finally came to Juneau when he enrolled in the UAS Master of Arts in Teaching program. He had a truly Alaskan teaching experience when he spent time in the tiny village of Hughes (population 66), where he taught all subjects to grades 7-12.

When Steve Cook interviewed for a job at Alaskan Brewing in 2005, he had good reason to be a bit distracted - he hadn't slept in 22 hours because he'd been attending the birth of his son. The sleepless night apparently didn't affect him too much, or maybe it was the joy of new fatherhood that got him through, but as Steve describes, . . . "I went in for my interview and came out with a new job...and a new baby!

Alaskan Brewer Rob Day first lived in Juneau as a kid, but he didn't fully appreciate it until he returned in the summer of 2001 for a family reunion. After those two weeks of sun and great fishing, he made up his mind to return someday, this time for good.
