Award Winning Brewery from Juneau Expands Distribution Network into Arizona

JUNEAU, (January 4, 2005) – Alaskan Brewing Company, the most award-winning small brewery in the U.S., has reached an agreement with Pearce Beverage Company to distribute its brews throughout the Phoenix market. The two companies reached agreement in early December after a contingent of Pearce Beverage Company executives visited Alaskan Brewing Company’s brewery in Juneau. The first shipment of Alaskan Amber arrived in Phoenix in time for New Year’s Eve, and more then 50 local restaurants and clubs have already signed on to carry the brew on tap. Meanwhile, bottled Alaskan Amber will arrive soon after and be on grocery store shelves in early February.
Alaskan Amber Ale, from Juneau, Alaska arrived at Pearce Beverage Company in Phoenix, Arizona on December 30, 2004.

Phoenix is a brand new market for Alaskan Brewing Company, as the brewery continues to meet consumer demand for its craft brews. Driving the demand is the many awards Alaskan Brewing continues to win at beer festivals around the world. Having captured 32 awards from the Great American Beer Festival since its founding in 1986, Alaskan Brewing Company’s most popular brew is Alaskan Amber, which was developed from a recipe created 100 years ago during the Alaskan Gold Rush. Pearce Beverage Company, distributor of Miller Brewing Company, Coors Brewing Company, Heineken, Corona and InBev products, will begin by distributing only Alaskan Amber, while other Alaskan brews may not be far behind.

“We are excited to begin handling Alaskan beers, as it is one of the best craft breweries in the country and we wanted to add a top-shelf craft beer to our stable of brands,” said Joe Cotroneo, Executive Vice President and General Manager. “We feel strongly that the rich, malty flavor profile of Alaskan Amber will be quickly embraced by the Phoenix market. And if the initial reaction of bar/restaurant managers is any indication, we expect sales of Alaskan Amber to be very strong throughout the Arizona marketplace.”

“Alaskan Brewing has been earning great success in the Southwestern markets, but we’re only as successful as our distribution channel. It is for this reason that we are so pleased to reach agreement and enter into a relationship with Pearce Beverage Company,” noted Fred Hees, sales and marketing director for Alaskan Brewing Company. “We selected Pearce Beverage Company because they have such a strong handle on the Phoenix market and also understand the mission that Alaskan Brewing has of producing the finest quality beers. With Pearce Beverage Company set to go, consumers will find our products on draft and in bottle at locations around Phoenix in the coming weeks.”

Pearce Beverage Company, acquired by Crescent Crown Distributing of New Orleans in March 2004, is the tenth largest beer wholesaler in the United States.
