Press Release
Alaskan Brewing Company is among the leading craft breweries with 17% growth for 2000. Other breweries like Sierra Nevada and Deschutes join us with 14% and 9% respectively. Alaskan's growth measures up to the success of even the import segment, which reported a 12.3% increase for the 12-month period ending in November, according to the Beer Institute. "In fifteen years craft beers matched what the imports did over fifty years. In another fifteen, I think craft beers will be where the imports are today," forecasts Geoff Larson, co-founder and Brewmaster of Alaskan Brewing. And craft beers will continue to create and fill a demand. "Look at what the wine industry has done. They have taken a domestically made product and put it on the top shelf and in white tablecloth restaurants. I think that is what is going to happen for us, " reports Larson. "I think craft beer will triple their business in fifteen years." Alaskan Brewing Company is one of the only craft breweries to report double-digit growth without expanding outside its existing market area.
