Alaskan Brewing & ASMI: Partners in Promoting Alaska Products

Alaskan Brewing and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) have joined forces to promote and market their products in the Pacific Northwest this summer. The co-promotion, designed to increase sales and awareness of quality Alaska products, is featured throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Northern California.

"We have a history of working with ASMI over the years." said Alaskan Brewing Company Co-founder, Marcy Larson. “When we were first breaking into the Seattle market ten years ago they graciously assisted us with access to their wonderful food photography. Through the years we have supplied samples for their international efforts and worked at spreading the word about wild Alaska seafood in our recipes and on our website. It is a great partnership.”

Alaskans have long favored pairing Alaska salmon and Alaskan Beer at summer cookouts. Promotional materials for the campaign show a prime Alaska salmon steak suspended over the fire between two Alaskan beer bottles, an uncommon barbecue method but an attention-getting image.

In addition to posters and display cards, the two organizations are hanging rebate coupons on 6 packs of Alaskan beer. Another feature of the joint promotion is a seafood counter sign with an ASMI recipe from Alaska fisherman Suzanne Abraham's salmon marinade using Alaskan beer as its key ingredient.

One of the most talked about pieces is a 6-foot stand up of Alaskan’s Lead Brewer Brent, Kesey, holding an impressive king salmon. Distributors have reported incidents of shoppers trying to take him home with them.

ASMI promotes Alaska Seafood in the U.S. and more than a dozen other countries. It is the state of Alaska’s official seafood marketing arm and is funded by Alaska’s seafood industry.

Alaskan Brewing Co., celebrating their 15th anniversary, is the most award-winning small brewery in the country at the Great American Beer Festival. Founded in 1986, Alaskan Brewing produces Alaskan Amber, Pale, ESB and Stout as well as a distinguished line of seasonal beers.
