Following the success of Alaskan Winter Ale, the Alaskan Brew Crew is releasing one of their most popular rough drafts as a summer seasonal. Brewed as a part of the distinctive Rough Draft Research and Development Program, this beer has been brewed in small batches since 1997 and was available only in Alaska. "Our Crew really wanted to bring this summer favorite back and share it with Alaskan fans everywhere," says Alaskan Lead Brewer, Brent Kesey. "Based on the traditional style of Koelsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany, Alaskan Summer Ale is fermented using our house yeast giving it a smooth rounded flavor." Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the crispness of German Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, the hops and malt are balanced to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. "We wanted the package to capture the vibrance of summer in Southeast Alaska," says Alaskan Marketing Manager, Cindy Burchfield. "Orca whales are often seen playing in the waves along the Inside Passage inspiring us to feature them on the label and as our first figural tap handle." Alaskan Summer Ale will be available throughout Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Northern California, and Northern Nevada for a limited time this summer. Founded in 1986, Alaskan Brewing Company is the most award winning craft brewery in the country at the Great American Beer Festival.
