Alaskan ESB Apple/Potato Casserole
Ingredients
Alaskan ESB Recipes
  • 4 Tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1 1/2 lbs. Yukon Gold or your favorite potatoes, peeled and sliced thinly
  • 2 lg. onions, sliced thinly
  • 5 Tbsp butter, melted and cooled
  • 6 apples, peeled cored and sliced thinly
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups Alaskan ESB
  • 2 large cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 to 2/3 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 tsp rosemary

    Methods/steps
    Butter casserole dish. Combine flour, salt, pepper, thyme and cayenne in a bowl. Toss potato slices with butter, repeat with apple slices.
    Layer half the potatoes in casserole dish. Sprinkle with 1/4 of the flour mixture. Place half the apple and onion slices over the potatoes and sprinkle with 1/4 of the flour. Repeat layers. Combine cream, Alaskan ESB and garlic. Pour over casserole.
    Cover and bake 50 minutes at 375 °. Remove cover, reduce temperature to 350 ° and bake 35 minutes. Top with cheese, garnish with rosemary and bake 15 minutes or until golden.
