Alaskan Spice Cake
Ingredients

  • 1 cup Alaskan Stout
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 Tablespoons ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon cloves, ground
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, ground

    Methods/steps
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
    In a heavy saucepot, bring Alaskan Stout to a boil then remove from heat and add molasses. Stir well and set aside to cool.

    Meanwhile cream sugar, brown sugar, oil and eggs together in a large bowl or standing mixer. Add cooled Stout/molasses mix and beat on low-medium speed until light and airy.

    In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and spices until combined.
    Gradually add dry ingredients to the mixture until it is well-incorporated.

    Spread batter evenly 9in greased bundt pans and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes until the color changes and the surface is springs back when lightly touched. While still warm, turn out onto a wire rack. Let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
