Alaskan Stout Blue Cheese Spinach Dip
Ingredients
Condiments & Sauces
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, pressed
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • 32 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 cup blue cheese, crumbled
  • ½ cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups Alaskan Stout
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tsp Johnny’s seasoning
  • 2 tsp pepper, freshly ground
  • 20 oz. chopped spinach, well drained
  •  

    Methods/steps
    Melt butter in skillet over low to medium heat. Add garlic and onion and saute until tender. Add cream cheese, blue and parmesan cheese and stir until melted. Add milk, Alaskan Stout, lemon juice, spices and spinach. Stir until heated through and serve warm with french bread

    Before thermometers were invented, brewers would dip a thumb into the mix to find the right temperature for adding yeast. Too cold, and the yeast wouldn't grow. Too hot, and the yeast would die. This became known as rule of thumb.
