Alaskan White Holiday Granita
Description
Congratulations to Jamie E. of Anchorage, winner of our Holiday Recipe Contest! This granita was unanimously voted as the winner after our panel of Juneau chefs and foodies sampled it.

1 pound of frozen summer raspberries from your backyard
1 bottle of Alaskan White Ale, 12 oz.
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional) Methods/steps Defrost summer raspberries while enjoying one of the other beers in your 6 pack of Alaskan White Ale.
Heat 1/2 cup of water almost to boiling on stove. Turn heat to medium, stir in cup of sugar to dissolve. Stir until simple syrup forms. Stir in raspberries and mash them up, cooking until very soft. Strain out seeds if desired. Stir in optional cinnamon. Transfer to container and cool mixture in fridge. Once cool, blend mixture slowly with beer until smooth in food processor. Transfer to freezer container and freeze overnight. Scrape icy mixture with a fork and spoon into dessert dishes. You may also prepare in an ice cream maker for an Alaskan Holiday Sorbet. |
