Hearty Alaskan Split Pea and Ham Soup
Ingredients
  • 4 bacon slices
  • 2 ½ lbs. ham hocks and neck bones
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 c. carrots, chopped
  • 1 c. celery, chopped
  • 1 medium white onion, chopped
  • 1 can black eye peas, drained
  • 1 (16-oz.) bag of green split peas
  • ¼ c. honey
  • 3 tsp. chicken bouillon
  • 5 c. water
  • 1 (12-oz.) Alaskan Amber
  • 2 bay leaves
  • ¼ tsp. marjoram
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
  •  

    Methods/steps
    Cook bacon in a skillet; drain bacon and crumble. Combine all ingredients in a large slow cooker on high for four hours. Cook on low an additional four hours. Scoop out meat, let cool. Remove meat from bones, return meat to soup and reheat.
