Mitkof Island Fartsdemper (Norwegian Speedbump)
Ingredients
Cocktails and Specialty Drinks
  • 1 (12oz) bottle Alaskan Oatmeal Stout
  • 2 lbs. pitted black cherries
  • 20-25 cardamom seeds
  • ½ vanilla bean
  • 1 c. muscovado Sugar
  • ½ blender full crushed ice
  • 2 ½ shots of vodka
  • ½ c. sweet & sour mix
  • Zest from key limes (to taste)
  • ½ c. cherry syrup
  • 3 tbsp. coconut milk
  • Fresh mint to garnish

    Methods/steps
    In a saucepan, slowly simmer Alaskan Oatmeal Stout, cherries, cardamom, vanilla and sugar for 1 1/2 hours. Pour off syrup and set aside. Puree solids. In a blender, mix crushed ice, sweet and sour mix, key lime zest, vodka and add cherry syrup. Pour blend into tall beaker style glass, spoon chilled cherry puree ½ inch on top of blended drink. Pour ½ inch coconut milk on top and serve with mint sprig for garnish. Makes 4 drinks.
