Venison Meatballs
Ingredients
Meat & Poultry
  • 2 lbs. Venison burger (or substitute ground beef)
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 cup chopped cheese crackers
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons garlic, chopped
  • 3 cups flour, seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 3 red bell peppers, cleaned and cut in 1 inch pieces
  • Alaskan Amber Sweet & Sour Sauce (see recipe on this website)

    Methods/steps
    Heat oil to 375 degree in a deep fryer.
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees
    Mix all ingredients except bell peppers together in a large bowl. Using hands, mix thoroughly. Form small balls and shake in bag with seasoned flour. Place in oil and fry for 3 to 5 minutes until cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
    Place finished meatballs in a large roasting pan or baking dish. Top with bell peppers. Add Alaskan Amber Sweet & Sour Sauce and bake for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Serve over rice accompanied by cold glasses of Alaskan Amber.

    Before thermometers were invented, brewers would dip a thumb into the mix to find the right temperature for adding yeast. Too cold, and the yeast wouldn't grow. Too hot, and the yeast would die. This became known as rule of thumb.
