Alaskan Brewing Partners with TGR and Jones Snowboards to bring the film to 30 locations

higher-smSept. 18, 2014  Teton Gravity Research, or TGR, premiered its newest film, the Jeremy Jones epic finale to a trilogy of films, “Higher,” on Sept 6 at Squaw Valley near Lake Tahoe in California. The premiere brought in thousands of people to see Jones’ journey that is the culmination of 6 years of film work, which began with “Deeper” in 2010 and “Further” in 2012.

“So much of these films are shot in the extreme backcountry of Alaska, that it seemed like a perfect match for Alaskan to be the beer poured at the premiere of the film, and more showings throughout our western states,” said Will Race, Promotions Manager for Alaskan Brewing. “An added bonus for us is the number of Alaskan riders featured in the film, including Lucas Merli of Juneau and Ryland Bell from Elfin Cove and Fairbanks. It’s great to see this next generation of extreme snowboarders coming to the forefront, and we are excited to be a part of it.”

These won’t be your typical beer boards hanging on the wall. These Austrian-made,award-winning boards are suitable for freestylers and freeriders who want to shred the entire mountain or get off the beaten path.

“Jones Snowboards and Alaskan Brewing seemed like such a natural fit that we found ourselves asking ‘Why haven’t we done this before?’” said Jeremy Jones, Founder of Jones Snowboards and star of the film. “And having Alaskan Beer on hand at these showings of ‘Higher’ has helped remind me of one of the reasons I love Alaska so much.”

An estimated 4,000 people attended the premiere in Squaw Valley, where Alaskan featured its Freeride APA, Hopothermia and Amber. The Freeride APA label features a snowboarder who just happens to be one of Alaskan’s brewers, Tyler Lindquist. Tyler was in attendance at the premiere.

jeremy-tyler“Meeting Jeremy was a genuine thrill,” said Lindquist (Shown here with Jones at Lake Tahoe.) “For so long, he has been such a wonderful example of someone who has lived his life with passion and purpose, and someone who embodies the spirit of the Alaskan lifestyle that we try to put into our beer. Also, the movie was awesome.”

The movie is now on a tour through the west, including Alaska, and Alaskan beer will be poured at 29 of the upcoming showings. Some dates are not yet finalized, but the following days and times are set:
