Saturday Tasting Room event debuts Alaskan Brewing’s latest art showcase

April 6, 2023 (JUNEAU, Alaska) – Alaskan Brewing Company is excited to host local Juneau artist Kelsey Hoke Martin, of K.Hoke Contemporary this month at the Tasting Room. On Saturday, April 8 at 3 p.m. K.Hoke Contemporary (K.Hoke) will be in the Tasting Room selling original pieces, art prints, mugs, and more.

Alaskans are seeing K.Hoke’s art hit the shelves this month on the labels of Alaskan Distilling Company’s Solstice Vodka Lemonade, Rainforest Gin & Tonic, and Musk Ox Vodka Mule.

The landscape of the Solstice Vodka Lemonade is inspired by Outer Point Lookout on Douglas Island in Juneau. The second Juneau location featured on the canned cocktails is the Peterson Creek salt chuck “out the road” near Amalga Harbor in Juneau. Finally, the Musk Ox Vodka Mule was inspired in collaboration with the Alaskan Distilling Company by the tundra landscapes and wildlife of northern Alaska.

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina K.Hoke made the move to Juneau with her family in 2020 just as the world was starting to shut down because of COVID. Once landing in Alaska she found artistic inspiration everywhere, “I almost feel like Alaska was always supposed to be home. Moving to Juneau just blew the doors open on my creative outlook, every turn here is breathtaking,” K.Hoke said.

“I am inspired by colors, texture, and culture. I fully recognize I am new to Alaska, however, I want to be as good to Alaska and its land as it has been to me. I’m lucky to live here and call this home. I hope that comes through in my art.”

The Saturday event in the Brewmaster’s Hall at the Alaskan Brewing Company Tasting Room will showcase K.Hoke’s vibrant landscape murals and delicate watercolor work. Attendees of Saturday’s event will have the opportunity to bring home the likeness of the canned cocktails home as acrylic paintings.

Historical images of the brewery’s 36-year history will also rotate this summer with local artists’ work on display this spring and throughout the fall and winter months.
